READ & REVIEWED: Prophecy of the Underworld by Low Ying Ping

Get ready for a magical adventure and to laugh really hard with Low Ying Ping's new middle-grade book, Prophecy of the Underworld!

You know a book is good when one of your kids got upset because her sibling got hold of the book before she did - this is despite both having already read it! 😅 True story in my household with Low Ying Ping's new book, Prophecy of the Underworld. We had already read the Advance Reader Copy (ARC) but the girls couldn't wait to read it again when the physical copy arrived!

In Prophecy of the Underworld, a prophesised hero dies one day before the world needs saving and 13-year-old Julian Kee is randomly chosen as a last-minute replacement. Despite having absolutely no world-saving skills whatsoever, Julian has to lead his two sidekicks into the Underworld on a magical and dangerous quest to save their world.

I had read Prophecy's ARC aloud to my girls and we had so many LOL moments with this really fun middle-grade story. As per blurb on book's back cover by yours truly, "A rip-roaring and hilarious tale about an unlikely hero out to save the world. Get ready for a magical adventure and to laugh really hard!" 😉 This book is now available at leading bookstores in Singapore.

Ying Ping and I were also at the Times Fun-filled Holiday Reads at the start of the March school holidays to chat about her new book. I really enjoyed hearing from Ying Ping the inspirations behind her book, while the girls were very glad they got to ask Aunty Ying Ping questions about her new book, of which they are huge fans of!

If you weren't able to catch the live-streamed event from Times Waterway Point on 13 March 2022, here's the replay from Times Bookstores' FB page. Ying Ping and I come in at around 1:22:00 but you can also catch Quek Hong Shin and Neil Humphrey's story-telling sessions before this!

It was great catching up with you before the event, Ying Ping. Thank you for your support and encouragement all this while - though it's been 2 years, I still get a buzz whenever I see your blurb in my debut novel ❀
