Starting this year's school assembly talks at Lianhua Primary!

Kicking off this year's school assembly talks at Lianhua Primary School!

I started off this year's school assembly talks at Lianhua Primary School, which was also my first in-person school assembly talk! Because of the pandemic, the school talks I did over the past few years were all via Zoom. Much as I like the convenience of Zoom, there's really nothing like being there in person to soak in the atmosphere and enthusiasm.

I had such a lovely time meeting students and teachers at Lianhua, and signing #MyBFFIsanAlien books at the book fair after the talk. Book 1 was sold out on the 1st day but stock was replenished for the 2nd day of the book fair 😄

I remember back when I was in school, I would get really excited when there were book fairs. But I don't remember meeting and hearing from authors (think there weren't many local authors back then?). So I think it's great that these days, schools organise author talks and book fairs for their students. Though my hand was a bit achy after signing books for almost 2 hours, it was all worthwhile when I see the smiles on the kids' and teachers' faces 😄

Readers' House, who organised my talk and the book fair, brought in such a good selection of books and at very reasonable prices, I must add. I bought a graphic novel for my girls and after reaching home, I regretted not picking up a few more books 😅 By the way, my books are now available at Readers' House!

Anyhoo, if there are any educators here who'd like me to visit their school, do get in touch with me and/or Readers' House. I've quite a number of talks booked this year already, so hurry while I still have space in my calendar 😄

Thank you, Lianhua Primary, for having me, and Readers' House for organising this and taking such lovely pics for me. This was such a wonderful experience for me and I hope to eventually visit every primary school in Singapore 😄🤞 A tall order but hey, like I tell the kids, dream big 😉
