When our kids start secondary school, they are expected to become more independent with their schoolwork and most do rise to the occasion. Frankly, I'm not as in tune with Big E's secondary schoolwork as I was when she was in primary school - she takes charge of her own learning now, so usually she's the one who will tell me what she needs help with.
She had asked if I could get her some Chinese assessment books so she can practise on the vocabulary learnt in lessons. Even after our kids have transitioned to secondary schools, I think it's still important to check in with them every now and then to see if they need help. The first year, especially, can be a little daunting for them given the new subjects and different teaching methods.
