With beautiful family suites, delightful dining experiences, and charming riverside surroundings, the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel is perfect for families seeking a memorable staycation in Singapore.

Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore family staycation

We kicked off the June school holiday off with a staycation at Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel, and what an amazing time we had at their newly launched family suite—a two‑bedroom apartment that can accommodate six. Yes, six! Finding a hotel room in Singapore that fits four adults is already tough (especially since many hotels count tweens and older as adults😅), so discovering one that can host six is truly rare.

I know of friends with families larger than four often skip staycations—same for those with older kids like mine—because booking two rooms gets costly. That’s why this feels like a real game‑changer for bigger families, and we couldn’t wait to share our experience. So here’s our review of the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel’s new family suite😉

--

We arrived at Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel slightly before the 3 p.m. check‑in, pumped for our staycation. Upon entering our family suite, we were greeted by a modern dining area, leading into a bright, spacious living room.

We explore our suite, going “Wow!” non‑stop, as it’s a two‑bedroom apartment that’s impressively spacious at 98 sqm.

The living area comes with a study desk, sofa and TV.

The living room leads to two bedrooms at either ends. Here's the master bedroom with a king sized bed...

...and it has a spacious adjoining bathroom with separate bathtub and shower area.

Standard amenities like toothbrush, toothpaste, shower gel, shampoo and hair conditioner are provided of course. The master bedroom also has its own patio...a very huge patio in fact!

Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore family staycation suite apartment

While I don’t do yoga, I can totally envision those who do bringing their mats and practicing amidst the bamboo trees. There is so much space here and the zen-style garden-theme feels really welcoming. Definitely coming out here to chill during our stay!

Here's the second bedroom with two single beds...

Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore family staycation suite apartment

and it's connected to its own bathroom!

Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore family staycation suite apartment

I think having two bedrooms in a hotel room is already quite a luxury but to have two bathrooms is taking it to a whole new level! If you’ve ever had to share one toilet with four people in a room during staycations, you’ll know it can be quite a chore when everyone has to take turns to use it 😅 So, to have two separate bedrooms with two bathrooms, we can't help but feel blessed by the staycation gods... or in this case, Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel 😄🙏

The toilet can also be accessed from the dining area, and I really love how interconnected everything feels in the suite. Here’s another view of our living room, where everyone has settled down for some TV. BTW the sofa converts into a sofa bed, that’s why this suite can fit six. We didn’t need the sofa bed during our stay since there were just four of us, but we can attest that the sofa is both comfy and generously sized!😄

The suite's built-in furniture is also very well designed. There's actually a washing machine, dryer and fully equipped kitchen in the cupboards 😁

The kitchen comes with an electric stove, utensils, cutlery, sink, kettle, coffee maker, microwave and filtered drinking water dispenser—yay, no need to boil water!

The hotel also thoughtfully left us a welcome gift.

The sweets and chocolates are delicious!😋Thank you Grand Copthorne Waterfront!

From the living area, there’s a lovely view of the Singapore River and the condos in the River Valley area.

We spend the rest of the day enjoying our apartment, lounging around watching TV while musing, “Wouldn't it be nice to live here...” 😊

Before long, it’s time for dinner! We head down to the hotel restaurant, Food Capital, and are pleasantly surprised to learn that it happens to be the launch of Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel’s Flavours of Malaysia Buffet!

Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore Flavours of Malaysia buffet

It’s pretty crowded with many invited guests, but we really love the festive atmosphere, complete with Malaysian‑themed décor, dance performances and a lucky draw! Of course, the scrumptious Malaysian cuisine is the biggest draw of all 😉

Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore Flavours of Malaysia buffet

The buffet showcases flavours from different parts of Malaysia, including Penang, Sabah, Sarawak, Johor and Kuala Lumpur. The variety is so wide that I seriously don’t think we manage to try everything 😅

Here are some of the dishes we really like. Bamboo chicken...

Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore Flavours of Malaysia buffet

...oyster omelette...

Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore Flavours of Malaysia buffet

...and Sarawak laksa!

Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore Flavours of Malaysia buffet

Actually come to think of it, all my favourites are from Sarawak. (We really should make a trip there some day!😉) There are also Japanese and seafood stations serving sashimi and seafood like fresh prawns and oysters.

Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore Flavours of Malaysia buffet

And the dessert table! It's probably the most creative dessert table I've ever seen at buffets!

Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore Flavours of Malaysia buffet

We are seriously astounded by the creativity of the chefs. Look at this exquisite looking Kopi Cups!

Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore Flavours of Malaysia buffet

And these cakes with Malaysian dishes and places printed on the chocolates!

Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore Flavours of Malaysia buffet

And these little cups of delight! My favourite is the Tau Fu Fah, soya bean curd with ginger syrup😁

Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore Flavours of Malaysia buffet

Held in collaboration with Tourism Malaysia as part of the Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign, the Flavours of Malaysia buffet features creations by visiting chefs from Malaysia. We highly recommend this buffet that is happening from now till 12 July 2026 at Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel's Food Capital. The restaurant changes its buffet theme every few months, so if you want to try this very authentic and flavourful Malaysian buffet, please do so before the current theme ends!

But do note that we were there on the launch night, so the menu was extra special and some items may not be available on other days. Do check out the menu at the hotel's website to see the dishes as lunch and dinner menu can differ too!

We’re so stuffed at the end of dinner that we have to take a walk outside 😂 And it turns out to be a really nice walk. The night view by the Singapore River is gorgeous.

Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore family staycation

I think there’s a really quiet charm to this part of the river at Robertson Quay, as it feels less hectic than Clarke Quay and Boat Quay.

Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore family staycation

Definitely take a stroll by the river if you’re here for a staycation, and if you’re not too stuffed from dinner, you can also chill at the cafés and restaurants along the stretch near the hotel, as well as across the bridge over the river.

Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore family staycation

If you're wondering what else is there to do here at night, may I suggest karaoke? 😁There's a Party World at Waterfront Plaza right next to the hotel. In fact, the two buildings are connected, so even if it rains, you can access Waterfront Plaza without getting wet.

So here we are at Party World!

If you'd like to see vids of me singing, please head over to my IGS highlights at my Instagram page 😁BTW Grand Copthorne Waterfront guests who present their keycard at the time of booking can get 20% off, according to the hotel's website😉

After two very enjoyable hours of singing, we're finally ready to call it day. Can I just say how thankful we are to return to our hotel room and not have to 'queue' too long for the bathroom—because we have two of them! Haha. Plus, we are looking forward to a good night’s sleep with all the ample space from our two bedrooms. Here's a night view of the river from our room to end the day.

Day 2

True to expectations, we all had a good night's sleep in the comfy beds that came with two pillows each. We are now ready for breakfast! Yes, we've fully digested last night's buffet. So bring it on 😉

Breakfast is served at Food Capital with a good variety of local, Chinese, Western, Japanese and Indian dishes, alongside vegetarian options.

Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore family staycation

Something we always look forward to is the egg station 😆

Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore family staycation

The Singapore laksa from one of the live stations is superb!

Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore family staycation

I really enjoy the waffles with fruit compote, whose sweet-and-sour flavour pairs beautifully with the crunchy waffles and is such a refreshing change from the usual jam and chocolate toppings.

Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore family staycation

After breakfast, it is time for a tour the hotel has specially arranged for us. We got to explore the different rooms the hotel offers, as well as its club lounge on the 29th floor, which is accessible to guests who book Club Rooms. Here's the spectacular view from the Club Lounge.

Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore family staycation

Apparently during National Day, club rooms here are really popular because you get views of the National Day Parade fireworks from the club lounge. Idea for this year's National Day? 😉

During the tour, we also learn about the hotel’s sustainable practices, including rooms with motion sensors and smart thermostats to reduce energy use. On arrival at our suite, we did notice there wasn’t the usual wall pocket for key cards. Turns out there's no need for it as lights will get turned off when the motion sensors sense that there's no movement in the room. It's definitely a smart idea, since guests sometimes leave extra cards in the wall pockets, which is really waste of electricity.

The double filtration system in rooms that dispenses fresh drinking water also cuts the need for plastic bottles, while the hotel's farm‑to‑table initiative features an on‑site hydroponic farm supplying fresh herbs to the kitchens.

Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore family staycation

The hotel also provides drinking water at several spots, such as the lobby and the 5th‑floor reception area, which is a great convenience for guests to refill their bottles and also eliminates the need to buy bottled water.

Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore family staycation

My girls are passionate about sustainability, and as a family we try to live sustainably too, so we can really appreciate the hotel’s eco‑friendly practices.

After the tour, it is time to work off the calories we consumed with a cycle along the river😁 There are actually quite a number of rental bike spots near the hotel. We find one right next to the hotel and off we go!

Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore family staycation

The Singapore River Promenade is really a nice area to stroll, jog or cycle. The view is beautiful and along the way you can find out more about the history of Jiak Kim House and Kim Seng Park.

Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore family staycation

Here's a lovely view of the quiet river.

Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore family staycation

And of course there's a number of nice cafes and restaurants along the promenade.

Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore family staycation

The very beautiful Alkaff Bridge is just nearby and quite a sight to behold.

Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore family staycation

One more look of the beautiful Singapore River Promenade before we head back to our hotel.

Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore family staycation

BTW the hotel provides complimentary one-way shuttle to Tiong Bahru, Chinatown and Marina Bay, Monday to Friday at 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM. We had the choice of going for this in the morning but we passed on that as we wanted to explore our hotel's vicinity.

Upon returning to the hotel, we continue our workout at the hotel gym! The gym is open 24-hours, so you can visit anytime.

Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore family staycation

There's also pull-up bars right outside the gym.

Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore family staycation

The pool—which is also just outside the gym—looks pretty crowded, so we decide to come back later and head to our room to relax instead.

Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore family staycation suite apartment

While the girls and the girls settle for some TV, hubs and I chill at the patio. It's really great that our patio is quite breezy and sheltered from the afternoon sun.

Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore family staycation suite apartment

The beautiful and spacious patio is definitely my favourite spot in our suite!

Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore family staycation suite apartment

In case you're wondering, why we haven't eaten lunch, well, we're usually too full for lunch after buffet breakfasts and besides, afternoon tea is coming up soon 😉

Yes, in the blink of an eye, it is time for afternoon tea downstairs at The Lobby Lounge! Until 12 July 2026, The Lobby Lounge is having its Malaysian Heritage Afternoon Tea.

Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore family staycation lobby lounge afternoon tea

We all opt for the non-alcoholic afternoon tea set that comes with a Pryce Sparkling Tea each. Very light and refreshing!

Checking out the menu as we wait for our food...

And here comes our scones!

Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore family staycation lobby lounge afternoon tea

The Gula Melaka scone is so fragrant!

Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore family staycation lobby lounge afternoon tea

There's also a selection of tea and coffee.

And here comes the rest of our afternoon tea set! The presentation on the ferris wheel is simply gorgeous!

Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore family staycation lobby lounge afternoon tea

Top down look.

Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore family staycation lobby lounge afternoon tea

My favourite is the Ramly burger, chicken skewer and otak otak with focacia 😁 Overall, the afternoon tea is really enjoyable though if you don't eat durians, this might not be for you as it comes with durian mochi and durian cream puffs 😆

After our afternoon tea, it's finally time for a dip at the pool!

Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore family staycation

The pool is a lot less crowded closer to dinner time. If you’re not there to get a tan and don’t mind a later dinner, you might want to head to the pool then. We do notice, the few times we walk past, that it tends to be quite crowded during the day.

Whle there are no features like slides or a baby pool, that's okay for us as we just wanted to cool down on the hot day and enjoy a quiet swim.

Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore family staycation

There is a jacuzzi though!

Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore family staycation

There might not be a beach or sunset view at the pool, but I quite like the view of the palm trees and swanky condos 😄

Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore family staycation

A very fulfilling swim later, it's finally time for dinner. We're back at The Lobby Lounge, this time for its Riverside Izakaya Nights.

Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore family staycation lobby lounge Izakaya

Hubs and I order cocktails, and the girls, mocktails while we wait for our food. The drinks here are really special as they are themed to the Singapore River.

Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore family staycation lobby lounge Izakaya

And here's our Izakaya family platter!

Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore family staycation lobby lounge Izakaya

Our platter that includes Teriyaki salmon and chicken thigh is absolutely delicious. We also really enjoy the ambience, dining al fresco by the river.

Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore family staycation Iobby lounge Izakaya

After finishing our meal, we decide to move indoors as there is a live band playing.

Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore family staycation lobby lounge

The live band which plays every Friday at the lounge is really versatile, singing Chinese, English and even Japanese songs. Listening to a live band while enjoying our drinks is definitely a good way to wind down for the night.

Day 3

We all have such a good night’s sleep that we wake up a bit late for breakfast on the last day of our staycation. But we’re still in time to enjoy the scrumptious breakfast buffet.

Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore family staycation

I really love the flavourful chicken porridge!

Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore family staycation

After breakfast, it is time to pack up and check out at 11am. It has been such a fun staycation at such a beautiful family suite, we are all a bit sad to leave—I really really can live here, you know 😁

By now you might be wondering about room rates. Hotel room rates, of course, vary depending on peak periods—whether it’s weekdays, weekends, or public holidays—as well as how early you book. But at the time of writing, Grand Copthrone Waterfront Hotel's website shows the rate for the two bedroom apartment/family suite we had stayed at is from SGD620 per night for room with breakfast included (before GST and service charge).

But if you have kids 12 years and below, you might want to consider its Riverside Family Escape Package 2-Nights Package. I did a search for a weekend in June for the family suite for 2 adults and 2 children and the per night rate for this package was actually comparable to booking the room on its own, if not lower. This 3D2N package has lotsa perks including the following:

  • Welcome ice-cream & popcorn treats for kids

  • 25% off at KidZania, inclusive of a one-way drop off to KidZania at 10am daily

  • 1-for-1 Afternoon Tea at The Lobby Lounge

  • Complimentary mini afternoon tea set for children aged 12 and below

  • 1-for-1 dining for adults at Food Capital and for main courses at The Lobby Lounge & Riverside Terrace

  • Children aged 12 and below Stay & Eat Free (when accompanied by a paying adult) at Food Capital Restaurant, The Lobby Lounge and Riverside Terrace

  • Complimentary breakfast for children aged 12 and below

  • Complimentary kids’ backpack

  • 10% off Prime Padel court bookings

Prime Padel

Do see the hotel's website for full details and other packages! And of course if you have smaller families, you can also check out other rooms and suites in the hotel, which costs less than the family suite.

All in all, we enjoyed our time at the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel tremendously—thanks to its beautiful and luxurious family suite, as well as its delightful dining experiences and charming surroundings. We highly recommend it for families of four to six, especially those with older kids, seeking an upscale staycation in Singapore.

Thank you Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel for having us—we had such an amazing time!
