With bright and colourful illustrations, this picture book is perfect for introducing young children to Singapore's former iconic National Library.

How many of you remember that iconic red brick building in Stamford Road that was our National Library? 😊 I definitely have fond memories of it before it closed in 2004. So, it was really nice to travel back in time to visit it in Flying Cart Adventures: At National Library on Stamford Road.

In the first book of the Flying Cart Adventures picture book series by Clara Mok, Ming Ming and his Por Por zoom back in time in Por Por's magical cart to visit the library to find a book Ming Ming's dad had once read. In the library, Ming Ming discovers how books were catalogued and loaned out in the past, and what he wants to do when he grows up.

With bright and colourful illustrations by Alan Bay, the book is perfect for introducing young children to this iconic place from Singapore's past. I love that the story is in both English and Chinese - allowing parents to expose both languages to their child - and at the end of the book, there are also questions that can prompt further discussion. I can so imagine reading and discussing with my girls if they were still preschoolers, how different it was when we borrowed books in those days without apps and borrowing stations 😄

Thank you, Clara, for sending this lovely read to me! The Flying Cart Adventures picture book series, published by ChildEdSg , is available at Kinokuniya, Maha Yuyi and Union bookstores, as well as at Shopee and Lazada! Thanks to Clara, we also have a copy to giveaway - do hop over to my IG post for a chance to win!
