After reading Shannon Hale & LeUyen Pham's Real Friends, I couldn't wait to dive into Best Friends!

In the second book of this middle-grade series, Shannon is in sixth grade (around 12 years old) and is part of the in-crowd. But that doesn't mean it's a bed of roses for Shannon as she scrambles to keep up with the ever changing rules when it comes to friendship, popularity and boys, and she has to decide if it is more important to be cool or to be herself.

This graphic novel series is Hale's heartfelt memoir of her growing-up years, with gorgeous illustrations by Pham. I found it very relatable as it brought back memories of my own struggles with friendship in my childhood. This has definitely become one of Little E's favourite graphic novels and I'm sure it's one that would resonate with many children and adults. I highly recommend this for tweens and those older.

Thank you Experal Singapore for sending this over to us so quickly so we could continue the series! If you don't know Experal Singapore yet, it's a gem of an online bookstore I discovered when searching for a book Little E wanted yet couldn't find it anywhere else (especially when Book Depository was no more!). Do check out its online store for at Experal.com and at Experal Singapore and Experal SG on Shopee!
